If you are planning to start therapy, it’s reasonable to want to know about me

What kind of problems have I helped people address?

I’ve assisted clients with many different problems and mental health challenges, both new and long-standing. These include, but are not limited to,

  • anxiety and stress
  • difficulty adjusting to life changes, such as loss/grief, transitions, and health challenges
  • mood-related difficulties (such as depression, sadness, Bipolar Disorder)
  • struggles with interpersonal effectiveness, emotional regulation, or distress tolerance
  • obsessive-compulsive behaviors (such as OCD, trichotillomania)
  • compulsive behaviors (aka addictions)
  • a friend of family member’s compulsive behaviors;
  • Autistic Spectrum Disorder
  • anger
  • chronic pain management (non-pharmaceutical)
  • suicidal ideation
  • sleep problems
  • trauma

If you have a problem that’s not listed, please call and we can determine if this is something I may be able to help address.

Conditions or problems I do not typically work with

  • Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID)
  • Pedophilia and related disorders
  • Eating disorders*
  • Psychological or Neuropsychological assessments
  • I do not prescribe medications
  • Letters for emotional support animals

* I have experience and training with eating disorders. At the same time, I do not consider myself an expert in this area and recommend you seek a provider who specializes in eating disorders. However, if you’ve had treatment with 4 or more providers without success, you’re welcome to contact me and we can explore if I can provide help in this area.

Professional degrees and employment

I graduated from the University of Rhode Island’s School Psychology program (APA1 accredited) and completed an APA and APPIC2 accredited clinical internship. I obtained my first license in 2010 and hold licensure in 4 states as well as authorization to provide telehealth services in over 40 states participating in PSYPACT3. Work environments and roles included working as a clinician at an adult long-term care and rehabilitation hospital; psychologist in a medical hospital providing services for short-term acute rehabilitation, oncology, and general medical units; clinician leader in an outpatient clinic; emergency services clinician in a hospital emergency department; and, work in long-term care facilities conducting cognitive evaluations and therapy. I’ve worked in non-psychology positions such as compliance officer on a forensic unit, technical advisor for retail hardware supply, web designer, and as a mechanic.

What type of clients have I worked with?

Past work included assisting people in most age groups and diverse populations such as differing ethnicities, ages, veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity, different physical or mental abilities, and social-economic status.

Outside of work

I enjoy reading, yoga, movies, fixing things that aren’t broken yet, science, exercise, and outdoors. Community activities include facilitating a recovery meeting and supporting local programs, as well as past volunteer work at an animal shelter.
